Healesville Sanctuary

A bushland haven for Australian wildlife, just 35 minutes from Peppers Marysville

Set within natural bushland in the Yarra Valley, Healesville Sanctuary offers an immersive introduction to Australia’s unique wildlife. Open daily from 9am to 5pm, the sanctuary is home to kangaroos, koalas, platypus, dingoes, wombats and more, all within thoughtfully designed habitats that reflect native environments.

Discover native wildlife up close

Wander through open forest trails and encounter iconic Australian species in a relaxed, natural setting. The acclaimed Spirits of the Sky free-flight bird presentation showcases birds of prey in action, while interactive keeper talks throughout the day offer deeper insight into conservation and animal care.

Recent upgrades to the arid aviary along the Woodlands Track have introduced new landscaping inspired by Australian river systems, complete with flowing water features and natural substrates that support bird wellbeing.

For visitors wanting a more in-depth encounter, Healesville Sanctuary offers small-group tours and premium experiences. The VIP Sanctuary Tour provides behind-the-scenes access and reserved seating at presentations, while the Australian Wildlife Health Centre Tour offers rare insight into one of the country’s leading wildlife hospitals. Animal encounters, including the popular Echidna Experience, allow guests to meet some of Australia’s most fascinating species up close.
