The Marysville Marathon Festival returns on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November 2026, bringing runners, walkers, volunteers and supporters together for one of the region’s most established community events. Set against the rivers, trails and forested surrounds of Marysville, the festival is known for combining a rewarding running experience with a genuine connection to place.

Across the weekend, the event is expected to again feature a range of distances including shorter runs, longer trail events and ultra-distance challenges, giving participants of different abilities a chance to be part of the festival. The Marysville Marathon courses take runners along scenic valley trails and forest tracks, with sections passing the Steavenson River and Steavenson Falls, and longer distances incorporate more challenging climbs through the surrounding landscape of the High Country.

The event also holds a deeper significance for the local community. First created in the years following the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires, the Marysville Marathon Festival has played an ongoing role in supporting the town’s recovery and drawing visitors back to the region. That sense of purpose still shapes the weekend today, giving the festival a stronger local identity than many larger running events.

Whether you are taking part, cheering someone on, or planning a weekend in town around the festival atmosphere, it is an event that offers more than the run itself. It is also a chance to experience Marysville at its most energetic, with the natural beauty of the area forming part of the appeal from start to finish.

Getting to the Marathon Hub

The Marysville Marathon Festival hub is located near Trevor Harrow Oval; around a 5-minute walk from Peppers Marysville, making it easy to head across for race check-in, the start area and weekend event activity without worrying about parking. If you would rather drive, it is only 1 to 2 minutes by car, so getting there and back is simple across the weekend.
