Each autumn, the Blue Lotus Water Garden in the Yarra Valley becomes one of the region’s most vibrant seasonal attractions. Running from 21 March to 19 April 2026, the Autumn Flower Season introduces the inaugural Bloomin’ Begonias, showcasing Melbourne’s largest display of begonia flowers across the garden’s 14 acres of landscaped grounds.

Located around 50 minutes from Peppers Marysville, the gardens make a scenic and easy day trip for guests exploring the Yarra Valley and the surrounding ranges during the autumn months.

Thousands of blooms across the Yarra Valley gardens

A highlight of the season is the Trail of Begonias, a one kilometre pathway winding through the gardens and lined with more than 300 hanging baskets, creating one of the largest floral hanging basket displays in Australia.

Alongside the begonias, visitors will discover thousands of additional autumn blooms planted throughout the grounds, including sunflowers, salvias and impatiens, adding colour and texture to the landscape. The gardens’ famous waterlilies also continue to bloom during the season, including the impressive Giant Amazon Waterlily (Victoria cruziana) with its enormous floating lily pads and distinctive flowers.

During the Easter school holidays, the gardens become especially lively, with family friendly entertainment and themed activities for children taking place across selected weekends and holiday periods. For families visiting the Yarra Valley, it offers a relaxed outdoor experience combining nature, colour and seasonal events.
